Her inspiration? Simply her intense pleasure in living and sculpting.
She loves creating because her approach is , first,
a consensual relationship with the day,
but also because she translates emotions, at a glance,
or an attitude into a representation of hope.

Paule Lemasson Stein's goal is not an expanding list of critical references.
Instead, what drives her is the spirit she can breath into her work.
Whether it is an animal like a bear, the struggle of sumo-tori, or parent and child,
the overwhelming sensation is one of seeing masterpieces
in our daily encounter with sculpture.

Her work speaks to us differently each day,
depending on how sharply we let it impress us.
It offers us messages that are sometimes meditations,
and other times outward expressions.
But always, her sculpture shows us ourselves, with infinite subtlety.

Nor are her sculptures simply sculpted as seen.
They exude a creative ambiguity which makes a bear pensive,
